Sensuous music, movement, sculpture, and images coaxed and cocooned Venus through her story's arc.<br /><br />The piece comprised several movements involving unique combinations of dancers, photographs, recorded music, an opera singer, and a violin and viola player. Two movements incorporated my photographs: a healing section in which, through a series of projected photo montages, young Venus awakens through her association with elements of nature, and a second as a series of projected images embedding portions of Boticelli's Venus in images of nature.<br /><br />Venus was performed at the Rhinebeck Center for Performing Arts, November 14 and 15, 2009.<br /><br />The photo montage above was created by Maggie Pickford. My photo is the background.
